Beauty Tricks by Nonna

Our nonnas knew always to cook awesome food and look flawless in a matter of minutes. Check out these ancient beauty secrets Italian nonnas have always passed on to their strong women! They don’t cost anything and they’re super easy to do.

Olive oil to hydrate the hair

A natural remedy for hair is an olive oil-based mask, with high moisturizing and antioxidant properties. It is applied with the help of a comb on dry hair from the roots to the ends and is left on for 20 minutes to an hour, depending on the type of hair. Then just rinse!

Bread to treat sunburn

Bread, thanks to natural starch, helps to calm redness and soothe the inflamed area. Leave on for 30 minutes.

Cucumber against dark circles

If you woke up with dark circles, there is nothing better than two slices of fresh cucumber, rich in water and minerals. Leave them on for 10 minutes to revitalize your eyes.

Honey for chapped lips

If your lips are compromised by dryness and aggressive external agents, try making a DIY lip mask by spreading a generous layer of honey and letting it rest for at least 15 minutes. Your lips will be so soft!

Foot bath with baking soda

A foot bath with lukewarm water combined with a spoonful of baking soda is an excellent foot treatment at (almost) zero cost thanks to its emollient, deodorant and antifungal properties. Add some rosemary or tea tree oil for an aromatic and antibacterial effect.
